Flying Fox snags World Cup win
CANOEING: Rio bronze medallist Jessica Fox has finished her 2016 canoe slalom campaign on a high, taking out the K1 event in the World Cup final at Tacen, Slovenia.
Up against a world-class field, Fox stunned her rivals with a commanding performance a day after securing silver in the final of the C1.
Fox posted a time of 77.55 seconds, more than two seconds quicker than Austria's Corinna Kuhnle (79.83) and Great Britain's Fiona Pennie (79.96).
The Australian qualified fourth fastest for the final, leaving her with a nervous wait as Kuhnle, Pennie and Germany's Ricarda Funk tried to beat her time.
All four paddlers completed flawless runs on the shortened course, which was cut to 14 gates due to concerns over concrete cracks at the bottom of the run.
It was Fox's first World Cup win for 2016, after securing silver medals at two earlier events.
Also the winner of silver at the 2012 London Olympics, 22-year-old Fox has her sights firmly set on competing at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
