Flu? Not in my shop! Sick ban angers customer

CANCER patient Veronica Reynolds can't afford to get the flu and has a sign in her Buderim antique shop door asking people to please not share their flu germs.

This sign sparked a fury in one customer on Saturday who told Mrs Reynolds and her husband John it was offensive.

It simply read: "Please if you have the flu cover your mouth, we won't be offended if you won't share it with us."

Mr Reynolds suggested the customer was being a "smart a**e", after she would not accept his explanation about his wife's dire health.

He could never have predicted the "well-dressed, middle-aged woman's" response.

She walked out of the store and then marched back in, ripping the sign off its stand and throwing it on the floor.

The couple got CCTV footage of the incident, never planning to use it, but now the situation has escalated.

Mrs Reynolds received a phone call from someone posing as Terry White Pharmacy at the Sunshine Plaza on Monday claiming to have a box of face masks to protect her from the flu .

"I thought the person was serious," Mrs Reynolds said.

It was only the next morning when Mrs Reynolds called Terry White Pharmacy back that she realised the phone call was a hoax.

The 66-year-old has contacted Maroochydore Police as she fears the woman is going to continue harassing her over the sign.

The police said they were unable to help Mrs Reynolds.
