Five things to do in Gladstone today

IF you're looking for something to do today or tonight, here are some of the events on offer.

1. Go crackers at roller derby disco

GLADSTONE PCYC Roller Derby is hosting an Animal Crackers roller disco from 6.30pm.

The all-ages disco is a chance for everyone to strap on some skates and unleash their roller skating beast.

Entry is $10, which includes skate hire, or bring your own - inlines are not allowed.

All children must be supervised, but there's no cost for non-skating parents/guardians.

Dress-ups are welcomed, and there will be prizes for games and best-dressed.

2. Wizard of Oz

CONSPIRE Isis Theatre Company will perform an adaptation of the Wizard of Oz tonight.

Written by Natisha Strudwick and inspired by the book and movie, all of the favourites will be on stage as well as some new friends.

It will be performed at the Gladstone marina stage from 7.30pm. Entry is by donation.

3. Snap up a bargain

BLUE Care Auxiliary is hosting a garage sale at 2 Margaret St until 3pm.

Donations of good saleable items may be left at the centre at any time, while arrangements can be made for the pick-up of larger items by phoning the centre on 4979 4499 or Ted on 4972 4757.

4. Peking Duk performs at Harvey Road Tavern

THIS one is only for those who have tickets, because the event has sold out.

Reuben Styles and Adam Hyde are two guys making it big in the music industry, with Gladstone next on their calendar.

Known for their hits High and Take Me Over, the boys will perform to a strong crowd at the Harvey Road Tavern from 7.30pm tonight.

5. Community Discussion Group

IF you'd like to join in discussions - to give your opinion, learn from others, have a laugh, and enjoy the company of other friendly people - this one is for you.

Community Solutions hosts an educational life discussion group every Friday from 1-3pm in the office at 32 Tank St.

Discussion topics include respect, love, responsibility, and co-operation.

The group promotes positive self-esteem, emotional intelligence, and values-based life skills such as conflict-resolution and decision-making skills.
