Five-day closure of Gladstone Marina Bridge for all traffic

THE Gladstone Marina (Matthew Flinders) Bridge will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic from 5am next Tuesday to 6pm on Saturday, February 1.

The Gladstone Regional Council's engineering services portfolio spokesman Cr Rick Hansen said revised engineering plans required the road to be completely closed to all people and vehicles throughout the project.

Originally it was going to be opened from time to time to allow passage across.

The bridge closure will affect mariners, large vessel operators, motorists and pedestrians.

"Due to the scope of the works and to ensure the safety of all, a full bridge closure will be implemented for the project's entire five-day duration," Cr Hansen said.

Alternative vehicular access is available via Hanson Rd and Alf O'Rourke Dr.
