Fishermen find woman's body in Noosa River

THE body of an elderly woman has been found in the Noosa River.

The tragic death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Criminal Investigation Branch spokeswoman said a group of fishermen called police about midnight Friday to report a body of an elderly woman found in the river in the area at the intersection of Gympie Terrace and Thomas St.

The fishermen called police who confirmed the woman was deceased.

The woman's husband has been notified.

A post mortem will be conducted.
