Six QFES battling Mt Morgan blaze

UPDATE 10AM: Six Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews are currently on scene at a large bushfire burning near Nine Mile Creek Road, Nine Mile Creek.

This fire, which broke out yesterday, is posing no threat to property at this time.

Crews will continue to monitor the blaze throughout the day.

Residents will be affected by a large smoke haze and are advised to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by.

Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions.

If residents are concerned their property is under threat, they should call Triple Zero (000) immediately. 

 

UPDATE 1.30PM: As at 12.15pm, two large grass fires are burning near Razorback and Nine Mile Creek, Mount Morgan.

Currently, 15 fire crews are working to contain the fires, which broke out this morning.

There is no threat to homes at this time.

Firefighters are working to construct containment lines using heavy machinery at both fires.

A large smoke haze is affecting nearby residents, who are advised to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by.

If residents are concerned their property is under threat they should call Triple Zero (000) immediately.  

UPDATE 11.30AM: Several Rural Fire Service crews are attending the grass fire to bring it under control. 

EARLIER: Queensland Fire and Rescue Service crews are currently trying to control a grass fire in Mt Morgan.

Three urban crews and seven rural crews are battling the blaze that started around 4.15am in the vicinity of Poison Creek Rd and Razer Back Rd. 

Authorities confirmed a triple zero call had been made to emergency services about the fire. 

There are no homes under threat at this stage.
