Firefighters battle multiple fires in Central Queensland
FIREFIGHTERS are battling a number of fires across Central Queensland this afternoon, including a large one on the Leichhardt Highway, north of Theodore.
It is believed this fire has a front on both sides of the highway, 30 kilometres north of Theodore, and has burnt 600 acres already.
Initial reports suggested the fire was out of control.
Other fires in the region include hay bales on fire under shed off the Bruce Highway near Benaraby; one on Randwick Lane at Mount Morgan; and a fire on a block of land adjoining a caravan park at Midgee.
These fires are on top of controlled burns planned in the Mount Morgan region.
