Crews monitoring Alton Downs fire

UPDATE 6PM: A FEW spots are still burning, and a few trees still ablaze on the site of a vegetation fire near Harding Rd, Alton Downs.

Two crews are still on site.

 

UPDATE 3PM: Multiple fire crews are mopping up and continuing to monitor a vegetation fire near Harding Rd, Alton Downs. 

The fire broke out at 10.46am today and is now under control. 

Smoke will remain in the Alton Downs area throughout the afternoon. 

Residents are asked to close windows and doors and if suffering from respiratory condition, keep medications close by.

Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions. If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

 

UPDATE 2PM: Queensland fire services have contained the vegetation fire burning near Harding Rd, Alton Downs. 

UPDATE 1.10PM: Seven Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews are currently on scene, with six more enroute, at a vegetation fire burning near Harding Road, Alton Downs.

This fire broke out at 10.46am today and is posing no threat to property at this time.

Firefighters are working to control the blaze and are currently establishing containment lines in the area.

Residents in the Alton Downs area will be affected by a smoke haze throughout the afternoon.

Residents are asked to close windows and doors and if suffering from respiratory condition, keep medications close by.

Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions. If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
 

 

UPDATE 12.10PM: QUEENSLAND Ambulance officers are responding to the fire at Alton Downs following reports a rural fire fighter has been overcome by smoke inhalation. 

Further reports suggest crews are fighting the fire from multiple fronts and have had to cut through fences on the property.

UPDATE 12PM: TWO water bombers are on standby as multiple crews continue to battle an out-of-control blaze at a Harding Rd property in Alton Downs.

 Further reports suggest crews responding from the Caves and Belmont have been delayed in reaching the scene due to heavy traffic and a train passing through Rockhampton. 

Crews from Stanwell are also set to respond within the next hour. 

UPDATE 11.30AM: EXTRA crews being called in to respond to an escaped fire at an Alton Downs property. 

Due to a change in wind direction, the fire is now heading in the direction of structures on the property and the land owner has reportedly gone into battle against the blaze. 

More updates to come. 

 

BREAKING 10.50AM: QUEENSLAND Fire and Emergency Services are responding to reports of a fire at an Alton Downs property. 

Initial reports suggest a small fire in a drum at a Harding Rd property escaped and has spread up to 100m. 

At this stage, no homes or structures are under threat.
