Walking trail closed after weekend fire

GLADSTONE Tondoon Botanic Gardens' Mount Biondello walking trail has been closed until further notice because of fire damage.

A large grassfire which started about 2pm on Saturday burnt out about 100ha of forestry area within Mount Biondello.

The 3km circuit trail, which wraps around the western and north-western border of the botanic gardens, has been closed to public use until the council's arboriculture crew inspects the site to determine the extent of damage.

The Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens and its facilities remain open for normal operation.

The botanic gardens' prime display, arboretum, herbarium, visitor centre, tea garden and playground were not affected by the fire.
