A FAMILY was lucky to escape a house fire with minimal damage to their home.

Two fire crews rushed to the Williams St West address in Coalfalls where a blaze, thought to be related to cooking, had started in the kitchen.

Within 10 minutes of receiving the call, fire fighters had doused the flames and declared the fire under control.

All the people living inside the single storey home have been accounted for.
