Fire crews praised for keeping blaze away from houses

FIRE crews have been praised for keeping a fire away from houses at Tannum Sands yesterday afternoon.

Crews were kept busy containing the fire near Coronation Drive after the fire broke out about 3pm.

A resident said the firies' excellent work meant damage to property had been averted.

"It could have been so much worse. Well done to them," he said.

Firefighters worked to contain the blaze by conducting backburning operations on scene.
