Man fined for drunken shower in stranger's hotel room

YOU know how it goes - you have a few too many shandies, you wander into a complete stranger's hotel room, and you take a shower.

This is the situation a Gladstone man found himself in after drinking all day, giving the occupants of the hotel room quite a surprise when they found the drunk man in their shower - thankfully, he was fully clothed.

Jake Joseph Piwanski, who had no idea how he had ended up in the shower, offered a plea of guilty in writing to one charge of trespass in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday, which was accepted by the court.

Police Prosecutor Mick O'Rourke told the court the incident took place at 5.30am on February 9 at the Rocky Glen Hotel.

The hotel room's occupants had left the front door unlocked when a highly intoxicated Piwanski entered the room and made his way into the shower.

Magistrate Russell Warfield fined Piwanski $500 but did not record a conviction.
