Fine for intoxicated Gladstone man caught throwing sticks
IT WAS an absurd way to be arrested - a grown man being caught throwing sticks.
For 26-year-old Nathan Robert David Ezekiela, alcohol certainly got the better of him on November 26 this year.
Police were called to Aerodrome Rd in Clinton just before 7pm on the night in question, to reports of a man in the middle of the road throwing objects at passing cars.
When they arrived they viewed Ezekiela throwing sticks at a group of people at the corner of Aerodrome Rd, before he made the bold move of turning and throwing a stick at the police car.
Officers viewed Ezekiela to be heavily intoxicated at the time and arrested him for a public nuisance offence.
He appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court earlier this week, where defence solicitor Sharon Kang told Magistrate Russell Warfield that her client did not remember much of the incident.
Magistrate Warfield said there was no excuse for the sort of behaviour displayed by Ezekiela, before fining him $500 and recording a conviction against him for the incident.
