Fete funds to assist Builyan's school library after floods

THE families of Builyan State School were hit hard by the January floods, but the community is rallying to bounce back.

The school, along with the Builyan Many Peaks Community Development Association, is presenting its Spring Fete on Saturday, September 14.

The event will fundraise for the small school's library, which went under in the floods.

Many books were destroyed, and while principal Amelia Jenkins said the school had spent thousands of dollars replacing them, now new shelving was needed too.

The fete is set to be bigger than ever, with markets and displays, a car show, rides, a mechanical bull, and the popular BMPCDA annual billy kart race.

Rides are $5 per ride, or $20 for an unlimited wrist band.

If you want to make a weekend of it, camping is available at Builyan Hall
