OPINION: "We are currently experiencing the end of construction phases on a number of projects in the Gladstone region, and we're entering production.

I acknowledge that this has led some workers to leave the region for work in other districts, but Gladstone has always been a town that prospers with new projects, and we need to continue generating new projects in order to keep workers here.

Once projects transition from construction to production, there is unfortunately a need for fewer workers, and that's why some are leaving at this time.

If we can get other projects off the ground, I'm confident that we will be able to keep workers in the region for longer periods.

At the moment, I'm working hard to ensure that the Hummock Hill development goes ahead, among other projects.

This will secure more jobs for the region and boost the local economy."
