UPDATE: 45yo man charged with murder of 22yo

UPDATE 3.30pm Saturday:

A 45-year-old south Gladstone man has been charged for the murder of a 22-year-old man in Gladstone early Saturday morning.

He will appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court on December 7.

UPDATE 3.20pm Saturday:

POLICE went to the Elizabeth St home just hours before a 22-year-old man died there from a stab wound to the chest.

Detective Inspector Darren Shadlow from Capricornia District confirmed police went to the house earlier in the night after receiving a call about a disturbance. 

He said police had no reason to follow through with any action at the time.

 

The neighbour who called the police at around 10pm on Thursday

said there was a "blue" going on in the yard.

"There were a bunch of them on the yard. It wasn't just two," he said.

"When the cops came they were all quiet."

Another neighbour said she saw a "punch on" at around midnight outside the yard.

"I heard them partying and then at close to 12(pm) I saw them punching and getting into each other," she said.

"We saw some men storming off after that."

A 45-year-old man handed himself in to Gladstone Police Station around 10.30am.

Det Insp Shadlow said the man had been living in the house for a short time and the victim had been there for a number of days as a visitor.

"It is believed there is alcohol involved. As for drugs we don't believe so," Det Insp Shadlow said.

Queensland Ambulance Service received the call that a man had been stabbed at around 3.20am and they worked on the man for some time.

They were unable to save him and he died at the scene.

UPDATE 11.32am:

A MAN has handed himself in to police at around 10.30am this morning in relation to the fatal stabbing on Elizabeth St this morning.

Dectective Inspector Darren Shadlow is addressing the media.

Police are still searching for another man over a stabbing incident in Benaraby this morning. 

The victim's body has been removed from the scene.

UPDATE 10.50am:

GLADSTONE Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have arrived at the Crime Scene.

They are currently talking to Police Scientific Scenes of crime workers who have been investigating here since 7.30am.

Police will be hosting a press conference in relation to the stabbing of the 22-year-old man at 11.30am at the Gladstone Police Station.

UPDATE 8.40am:

A NEIGHBOUR who called the police about a "blue" at an Elizabeth St resident last night is shocked that someone has been stabbed to death.

 

The neighbour said he called the police at around 10pm because a "bunch of people were having a blue".

"There were a bunch of them on the yard. It wasn't just two," he said.

"When the cops came they were all quiet."

He said it was the first time they had called the cops about problems from that house but said they were always screaming. 

 

UPDATE 7.48am: 

Police are stationed out the front of the house where a 22-year-old man died early this morning after being stabbed in the chest.

EARLIER 7.09am:

A 22-YEAR-OLD man has died in a stabbing early this morning in a South Gladstone home. 

Paramedics responded to the emergency on Elizabeth St at about 3.20am.

Despite paramedics' attempts to resuscitate the patient, he died on scene.

Initial investigations suggest that two men were involved in an altercation resulting in the 22-year-old man receiving a stab wound to his chest.

Police have established a crime scene at the residence.
