The fast and furious 2012 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

FOR this weeks blog, we will be looking at one of my all-time favourite cars ever produced. Say hello to the 2012 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, or in other words, the world's fastest production car.

This model in particular is the 1/1 "Pur Blanc" Veyron, which features a mixture of bare carbon fibre and matte white paint specifically designed for this vehicle.

This colour scheme also continues on the inside, with carbon fibre and white accents throughout the alcantara lined interior.

The engine featured in the Super Sport is a revised version of the standard W16 engine featured in the original 16.4 Veyron, resulting in more power and more torques.

At full pelt, the 8.0-litre quad-turbocharged engine can produce up to 882kW (1183 hp) at 6400rpm and 1500Nm of torque (1106 lb-ft of torque) from 3000-5000rpm.

Connected to the engine is a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends the power through to all-four wheels.

With this amount of power coming from the engine, this car needs to have an immense cooling system. Your average family sedan will have one radiator, possibly even two.

There are a total of 12 radiators situated throughout the Veyron Super Sport, with each of them having their own individual job.

The designers of the Veyron didn't want to create a stripped-out race car for the street, since there are already plenty of those on the market.

Instead, they went with a hypercar that provides everyday drivability and comfort for day-to-day activities, but with the push of a button can turn into a weapon.

Therefore, the Veyron isn't exactly the lightest car on the market. It has a claimed kerb weight of just over 1800 kilograms.

Now, to the part you have all been waiting for, performance figures. The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is capable of accelerating from 0-100 kilometres per hour in just 2.5 seconds, which is fast enough to actually make your feet feel numb.

This model also has an electronically limited top speed of 415 kph (258 mph).

The limiter was added to save the tyres from wearing out too fast, and without the limiter the car is able to hit 431kph (268 mph).

In fact, during the Sun Valley Road Rally in Idaho last year, the owner of this Super Sport took the car up to 397kph (246.4 mph).

This is one of the fastest speeds the car has achieved outside of Volkswagen's high-speed test track.

Out of the 450 Veyrons ever made, only 30 of them were destined to be Super Sport models.

There are currently zero Bugatti Veyron Super Sports in Australia, but a similar model recently sold in the United States for $3,000,000 USD.
