Fashion wins at track for Easter festival race day
DONNING their best suits and dresses, punters flocked to Ferguson Park on Saturday for the Easter festival race day.
Even the men were getting in on the act, adorning themselves with feather head pieces and brightly coloured attire in a final farewell to summer.
An estimated crowd of 600 filled the race track side lines with excitement.
Fashions on the field was a colourful spectacle, with Alice Williams crowned the day's winner.
Millie Bradleywoods took home the crown for best fascinator of the event, for her sophisticated floral piece.
Third place finalist Emma Price said the Easter Festival race day was the opportune moment for people to go all out.
"I love coming to races and seeing everyone dressed up," she said.
"Making fashions on the field is a very cool bonus.
And if you happen to bet on a winning horse, even better."
To meet the criteria for a finalist in fashion on the field, outfits needed to be ladylike, elegant and classic with a modern twist.
Headwear or millinery was also a must to polish off the look of elegance.
The success of the Easter Saturday Festival race day will be followed by a Charity Race Day on June 28.
