Fancy a cuppa with skip at sunrise to start your day?
Sharmin Messer and Chelsea Russell are the creators behind The Hungry Travellers. They spend their spare time exploring amazing locations and sharing their experiences with followers on social media. So, who better to ask about the top spots in the Mackay Region than these travel-hungry explorers?
SUNRISE on the beach, wallabies and kangaroos, bushwalking and camping - Cape Hillsborough National Park has the perfect ingredients to please any traveller.
"It has to be one of our favourite places in our region - no two visits are ever the same," Sharmin said.
"With active families we love being able to explore. Last month we discovered the Diversity Boardwalk which was a huge surprise."
Chelsea's perfect day at Cape Hillsborough, starts with sunrise on the beach with wallabies and kangaroos.
"It just needs to be on everyone's bucket list, so an early start with a cup of coffee to watch the sun come up would be the start of our day," she said.
The Cape Hillsborough Nature Tourist Park provides the perfect location to do just that and offers a range of accommodation to suit any traveller.
Sharmin said it was not just the wildlife that captured the attention of visitors and locals; the bushwalks and scenery also make Cape Hillsborough National Park a great place to explore.
"Spend the next couple of hours exploring the bush walking trails, spotting turtles and soaking up the scenery, followed by a picnic on the beach," Sharmin said.
"If you're lucky and are visiting after a good rainfall, there's even some hidden waterfalls that are quite amazing. We find the staff at the Cape Hillsborough Resort very friendly and are always giving us tips and showing us the way to go."
So what keeps The Hungry Travellers coming back to Cape Hillsborough?
"We have this little piece of world-class paradise right on our doorstep, and the location is very convenient," Sharmin said.
The Hungry Travellers agreed there was no shortage of things to do at Cape Hillsborough, making it the perfect place to stay for a while to explore, relax and unwind in the nature and beauty of this stunning region.
"You can't go past lunch, or tea and scones at the Old Station Teahouse, this is a truly beautiful spot tucked away on the road to Cape Hillsborough," Sharmin said.
