Family and friends remember remarkable Cliffy Ambrum
THE life of one of Gladstone's finest residents was celebrated on Monday.
Cliffy Ambrum, 54, died recently, and hundreds of friends and relatives turned up for the funeral and wake at Marley Brown Oval.
While there was sadness, there was also a positive feeling about Mr Ambrum's remarkable legacy.
Cliffy, who passed away on November 7 aged 54, lived his life in a way that helped others.
Over 20 years, Cliffy and his wife Lillian fostered 31 children.
His younger brother Gary last week recalled that even before Cliffy started fostering children, he had a positive influence on in the kids around him.
"He always looked after our (family's) kids, nieces and nephews," Gary said. "He just had a way with them. It was the nature of the person, the communication he had with them."
Cliffy was a groundsman at the Gladstone Hospital for 25 years.
