Over 4000 people enjoy magic of Christmas at annual carols

THE magic of Christmas was alive in Gladstone on Friday evening as people poured into the marina to enjoy the GLNG Mayor's Carols by Candlelight, presented by The Observer and ZINC Radio.

Gladstone region soloists and school choirs accompanied X Factor top 12 finalist Justin Standley in entertaining the crowd from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

In addition to the entertainment the massive crowds enjoyed a huge selection of food and prizes being raffled off. Fireworks lit up the sky for an impressive finale.

"We seek to improve the show every year, so this is the greatest show we've done so far," event co-ordinator Angie Bettridge said.

Mayor Gail Sellers said the event was full credit to the organisers and was a fantastic family night.

"Carols by Candlelight is a wonderful way for families and friends to welcome the festive season and share the Christmas spirit in a family-friendly environment," Cr Sellers said.

"We know that there were over 4000 people there."
