Fairytale wedding starts with a few hiccups

A BROKEN down car, a missing bridesmaid and teary husband were all part of the perfect fairytale wedding for Dylan Gray and Amanda Foley.

The couple gathered with 30 of their family and close friends on Sunday, September 28 to marry - but that wasn't before a few "hiccups".

"One of our bridesmaids didn't show up - but my cousin had a dress which was perfect for it," newlywed Amanda said.

"As I was on my way, our car broke down. I ended up being 45 minutes late.

"My husband was sitting in the park thinking, is my bride going to get here?" she said.

With not too much hassle the car was running again and the pair was wed by celebrant Judy Whicker.

A reception was held at a caravan park where the couple lives. They enjoyed an intimate celebration with their guests.

She described the way they met in March 2012 as a "fairytale story".

"I was working at a cafe and he was one of my regular customers ... I ended up giving him my number, he was too chicken to make the first move," she said.

"For our first date he took me out to a restaurant - he booked a table but it still took 45 minutes, he got frustrated and kept apologising."

After the dinner the pair went to the beach - it was a full moon and they shared their first kiss.

Dylan proposed to Amanda in February 2013.

"I saw there was money coming out of our account - he tried to convince me he had brought me a bracelet - but it would have been a very expensive bracelet," Amanda said.

"He proposed at the beach where we had our first date.

"We went out to dinner first and after he was taking me somewhere, he told me to close my eyes and he took me down to the sand, which is when I knew where we were."

The couple spent a few nights at Rydges Gladstone for their honeymoon.
