Man charged for Facebook threat to shoot CSG workers

A MAN living on a lifestyle block between Chinchilla and Tara has been charged for posting threatening messages on his personal Facebook account, aimed at QGC.

Chinchilla Police officer in charge Sergeant Gerard Brady said the man, 47, had allegedly threatened to use firearms against QGC employees in a Facebook post.

QGC filed a complaint about the message on November 12, and Sgt Brady said the man came quietly to give a statement at the Chinchilla police station the next day.

He will face Chinchilla Magistrate's Court under the Commonwealth Criminal Code, charged with using a carriage service to threaten or intimidate.

"In this day and age people need to be mindful particularly about Facebook and remember that anything they post is not anonymous; it is a carriage service by definition," Sgt. Brady said.
