Expose the middle order against the Glen

BROTHERS captain Terry Sawyer suggested that if his team is a chance in Sunday's Gladstone Cricket Incorporated grand final, then it must get to The Glen's middle order batters.

The Glen's gun opening pair of captain Jason Seng and Liam Kirk has set huge platforms in recent weeks, but Sawyer said strike bowlers Joshua Grieving and Daniel Mills are the keys in Brothers' quest to a second straight premiership.

"Early wickets are the key and their middle order haven't had much of a hit...it's a big ask but if we can expose them that would be great," Sawyer said.

It is a difficult ask indeed because The Glen also has the likes of hard-hitting Glen Stanton-Cook, Sam Lowry and Eric Fourie to do damage with the willow.

"The first session will be crucial to the game," Sawyer said.

The batting strip at Sun Valley is expected to be dry and fast according to Sawyer.

"Whatever the wicket is, it's the same for both sides," he said.

In-form Seng enters the decider in blazing form and he has sent a warning out to Brothers.

He can get better.

And what bigger stage than in a game in which The Glen will want redemption from last year.

"I have been scratchy early and Liam (Kirk) and I have managed to see of the new ball," Seng said.

The skipper surprisingly began his career as a bowler, but, as results have shown, he has focused on batting.

As always, Seng said there is plenty of respect between the two teams.

"Brothers' opening bowlers hit a good spot with Josh Grieving there while both Sawyers, Ricky and Terry, are dangerous along with Mal (Carlyon)," Seng said.

Meanwhile both the reserves and B grade have semi-finals on today between Brothers and The Glen at Clinton and Sun Valley respectively with winning teams to take on BITS and BITS Saints in the deciders on Sunday.
