Expensive trip down the Hume for speeding truckie

A TRUCK driver has been handed a $2238 fine for not being speed limiter compliant.

The defect for heavy vehicle speed tampering was issued today at 1pm when traffic and highway patrol officers from Riverina clocked the truck at an alleged 126kmh.

The Victorian-registered heavy vehicle was on the Hume Hwy, Tumblong at the time.

Officers issued a defect notice for class B exceeding special speed limit of $568 and vehicle not speed limiter compliant of $2238.

The truck was grounded until Roads and Maritime Services completed an inspection of the vehicle.

Meanwhile the driver, a 46-year-old man from Victoria, was subjected to a blood and urine test, the results of which are pending.
