Kindy goes through the looking glass for glam fundraiser
THE splendour and colour of the Birralee Ladies Day was enough to make even the glum Queen of Hearts smile.
Boasting an Alice-in-Wonderland theme, the fundraising event for the local kindergarten was jam-packed with pretty women dressed to the nines at the Gladstone PCYC on Saturday.
Ladies donned colourful dresses of all shapes and sizes, hoping to win one of the spectacular prizes on offer for best ensemble, best hat or best shoes.
Even Zinc radio announcer and host for the day Rob Kidd got into the spirit by sporting a mad-hatter costume.
The prizes were endless - from photography packages to beauty sessions, hats, holidays and vouchers.
Coastline Clothing in Tannum Sands put on a fashion show featuring spring/summer trends and swimwear.
Event organiser and Coastline Clothing owner Kelly McEachran, said while the massive turnout was slightly daunting it was still very exciting.
"Everyone is here and looks absolutely beautiful," she said.
With a tea-bag toss, croquet, lucky door prize, beachwear fashion parade and photo booth, there was more than enough activities to entertain.
Kelly Beckitt was happy to spend a day out with friends - without the kids - at the special event.
"It's a chance to catch up with friends and to raise money for the kindergarten," she said. "It's nice to be a woman for the day."
Holding her bubbly in one hand, Emily Morris posed for photos whilst enjoying her well-dressed friends' company.
"What a lovely day," she said. "All the ladies look superbly wonderful, having fun."
Stephanie Timbs stood out in her fitted, flowing maxi-dress and classy Hollywood-styled saucer hat.
When asked what inspired her look she said she loved Audrey Hepburn.
"I always wanted to wear a hat and I thought I'd wear something long."
