Ethan glad to have new role at entertainment centre
ETHAN Costello has lived in town for just weeks and said he's enjoying it.
The 18-year-old has come from the Gold Coast to Gladstone, having moved from just south of the Queensland border in Tweed Heads.
"I moved here five weeks ago. While, yeah, I do miss the Gold Coast, I've always liked Gladstone," he said.
Having finished high school is September, Ethan said he had applied for many jobs and was fortunate enough to land one here in town.
"I've always wanted to be a technician, so when the job came up at the GECC I jumped at it and got it," he said.
"My job means I set up for shows, general maintenance in the centre and assisting other technicians, which is great.
"I work with a great team, Simon, Shane and the Joshettes, as I like to call them."
Ethan's highlight so far has been meeting the Umbilical Brothers last weekend.
"I got to work on the show for them, which was awesome, and I think I'm going well up here so far," he said.
"I'm looking forward to working with other famous people."
And while Ethan said the nightlife here wasn't quite like the Gold Coast, but he would get used to it.
"The nightlife here is pretty different. I mean it's no Surfers Paradise," he said. "But I'll give the Reef a go."
Ethan said when he was not working he pursued several hobbies.
"Love the fishing up here - and sleeping at the moment because full-time work is taking a toll on me," he said.
"I remember when I was little and I used to come her with family to the festival so that's on my list.
"I'm familiar with town, so I'm sure I'll get involved with some things."
The Costello family moved to Gladstone a year ago, so Ethan said he appreciated having that support network.
"I've just moved out into my own place with my stepbrother, so life is good," he said.
"One day I'll go back to the Goldie, but for now I'm happy here and we'll have to wait and see as to where life leads me."
