UPDATE: Prisoner arrested by police after 6 days on the run

UPDATE 2.40PM: QUEENSLAND Corrective Services have released a statement regarding the recapture of a Capricorn Correctional Centre escapee. 

The male prisoner who allegedly absconded from the Capricorn Correctional Centre Farm on Saturday afternoon has been located by police. 

The man, 33, was apprehended by police at Emerald and taken into custody.

The circumstances surrounding how the prisoner allegedly absconded from the low security facility are being investigated by the Office of the Chief Inspector.   As this matter is subject to investigation, Queensland Corrective Services said they were not in a position to comment further.

BREAKING 12.30PM: POLICE have recaptured and arrested escaped prisoner Kevin Andrew O'Connor. 

The 33-year-old escaped from the Capricorn Correctional Centre on Saturday afternoon after last being seen playing tennis in the facility. 

Detective Inspector Darrin Shadlow of the Rockhampton CIB said Emerald police caught and arrested O'Connor at about 12pm today in Emerald. 

"He was caught in the Emerald city area and was arrested without incident," Det Insp Shadlow said. 

Det Insp Shadlow said O'Connor's arrest came from a tip off from a community member.
