Ergon puts call out for new apprentices

POTENTIAL recruits for Ergon Energy's next generation of power industry field and substation crews can now apply for an apprenticeship beginning early in 2016.

Chief executive Ian McLeod said Ergon was adopting a new approach to recruiting apprentices by calling for expressions of interest across all of its depots in regional Queensland.

Mr McLeod said next year's intake would increase from this year's recruitment of 61 apprentices.

Apprenticeships are available in a range of trades - communications technician, distribution linesperson, transmission linesperson, mechanical fitter and electrotechnology electrician.

Expressions of interest close on August 16.
