Chance to go backstage at entertainment centre open day

GLADSTONE region residents are invited to an "access-all- areas" open day at the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre on Monday.

The newly redeveloped centre will open its doors and provide guided tours to showcase the capabilities of the region's premier entertainment venue.

Gladstone Regional Council arts and culture portfolio spokesman Ren Lanzon said the event would give residents an opportunity to experience the venue.

"We're very proud of the new centre and we want to show the public why it is an asset that they can rightly feel proud of, too," Cr Lanzon said.

"Guided tours for 15 people at a time will showcase the stage, backstage areas, the scullery, rehearsal rooms and other areas of interest throughout the centre, and will give visitors a greater idea of what goes into staging productions and functions at the venue.

"The Mad Hat Band and Thunderbirds will bring their brand of the blues live while jumping castles and super slides, all to be contained within the spacious centre, and other attractions will keep the kids entertained."

Motoring enthusiasts can enjoy Hyundai and Harley Davidson displays, giveaways and the chance to win tickets to next month's Agnes Blues and Roots Festival at Agnes Water.

The event goes from 10am-3pm, with the Mad Hat Band and Thunderbirds performing from 11am at the event hall.
