Body of man found in home after Deception Bay siege

THE Ethical Standards Command will investigate the death of a man at Deception Bay this evening.

Police entered an Osborne Terrace home around 7.15pm this evening and located the body of a man.

Police had been outside of the residence negotiating with a 53-year-old man since early this morning after officers were called to a disturbance at the home.

Earlier police said the man had released three people - a woman, a male teenager and a female teenager - from the home in the morning. They were not hurt.

It is understood the man had been armed with a gun.

SERT officers used a bomb robot as part of their operation, Fairfax reported.

The emergency declaration made under the Public Safety Preservation Act this afternoon has now been lifted.

A report with be prepared for the Coroner and the Crime and Corruption Commission have been informed.

Emergent situation declared in Deception Bay

POLICE have declared an emergent situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) in Deception Bay this morning.

The situation was declared at 11.06am after police responded to a disturbance at an Osbourne Terrace residence earlier this morning. It is believed that a man is inside the residence and armed.

Police are on scene and have the area cordoned off, with negotiators speaking to the man.

The cordon is bounded by Balmoral Place, Summer Street, Windsor Place and Union Street, including Osbourne Terrace within the outer bounds.
