Election prolific on social media

CANDIDATES vying for the Seat of Gladstone in today's State Election have been swamped with messages of luck and last minute encouragement.

Facebook and twitter has been aflutter with activity already this morning as the candidates visit key booths and catch up with supporters and constituents.

Most prolific were the facebook pages of incumbent Liz Cunningham and ALP candidate Glenn Butcher.

Both candidates were on the receiving end of hundreds of kind words and messages of support; while also taking the opportunity to thank people for their support, their help during the campaign as well as thank those who were helping to attend booths and hand out how-to-vote cards.

It's expected the social media conversation will continue to gain momentum throughout the day and into the night as counting begins and results are known.
