Eels’ power to be tested by Roosters

THEY upset Brisbane last weekend and now the Parramatta Eels get the chance to prove if they are the real deal against defending premiers the Sydney Roosters.

When the Eels lost their second game 56-4 to the Roosters it seemed like their opening-round win against the Warriors may have been a fluke.

But they've smashed their way to three wins in a row on the back of a powerful forward-dominated game be driven by back-rower Manu Ma'u.

Kiwi coach Stephen Kearney said this week Ma'u (pictured) had played his way into contention for a New Zealand jumper for next month's one-off Test against Australia.

The Eels have so much power now with Ma'u and hooker Nathan Peats adding even more grunt alongside captain Tim Mannah, Fuifui Moimoi, who is back this weekend and Ben Smith.

With Jarryd Hayne in wonderful form and Fiji wrecking ball Semi Radradra the leading try-scorer this season, the Eels are finally putting some smiles on the faces of fans who last season had very little to cheer about.

Still, with intimidating prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves returning from suspension, the Rosters have the pack to put Parramatta to the test and find out it they have the mettle to be a finals force in 2014.
