Education on APEC agenda

HIGHER education will be a chief point of discussion during high-level negotiations at the 20th Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Russia this week.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard was flying out for three days of ministerial talks with the leaders of the 21 other APEC countries.

The Vladivostok conference will look at higher education and reducing tariffs on "environmental goods".

Ms Gillard's office released a statement saying the government would back a Russian proposal for higher education, to help in student mobility and education providers in the region.
