Eddie McGuire on Facebook: ‘I’m gonna sue their arse off’

EDDIE McGuire has vowed to sue Facebook over a fake story that claimed he had erectile dysfunction.

A web page, mocked up to resemble an article in GQ magazine, has emerged on social media featuring the broadcaster pushing a product called "TryVexan".

The fabricated story features a fake quote: "I've tried Viagra, I've tried Red Ginseng, I've tried Cialis. TryVexan blows them all away."

It claims he has partnered with Dr Phil to promote the product - a "natural remedy" containing monkey head mushrooms and horny goat weed.

"I am so confident in the product Dr Phil and I have created that I am offering free samples to our viewers," the bogus story reads. "I wouldn't talk about something on air I don't believe and haven't tried myself."

But McGuire has dismissed the article as total fiction.

"Clearly this is defamatory against me and it's illegal to use someone's likeness and purport it to be them," the TV personality said on Triple M. "I'm gonna sue their arse off."

"This is a week after Facebook has just been excoriated in America about false news and they're able to just run a completely bogus ad," he said.

"It's not only fake news, it's defamatory and it's incorrect."

The fictional story has since been removed from Facebook.

The Collingwood president came under fire on social media earlier this week over claims he was too pro-Carlton following Saturday's clash between the Blues and Eagles at the MCG.
