Eddie can thank the Eels for win

AVID Brisbane Broncos supporter and Queens Hotel publican Eddie Whiteside was praying for a Parramatta Eels win last weekend and for good reason.

But his winning ticket to the NRL grand final on behalf of The Observer NRL Footy Tipping competition.

"I was watching it at the pub and the Eels were down and next minute the were three tries up,” Whiteside said.

Suddenly Whiteside's sombre face began to beam with joy.

"When the Eels went three tries up, I was getting excited and I said that I am going to Sydney,” Whiteside said of his win.

The package is platinum class which includes a cruise prior to the NRL decider on October 2.

"We have a three-hour cruise on the Harbour and it should be a bit of fun,” Whiteside said.

He will take his mate and manager of the Grand Hotel Matt Rauchle along for the three-night league adventure.

"He came to the pub and he just wanted to make sure that he was coming with me,” Whiteside said of the night the Eels served him a huge favour.

As for who will win the grand final, Whiteside nonchalantly said 'Melbourne Storm of course'.
