Eating broccoli is not the most unusual eating habit around

I WILL never ever turn my nose up at someone else's unusual eating habits again.

I know women can have crazy food cravings during pregnancy, which no one is allowed to turn their noses up at.

But there are some habits my friends and family have that did concern me - eating raw onion like a piece of fruit, putting tomato sauce on everything and one person had to eat bread with every meal.

Not after reading the unusual habits of family or friends of readers, or the stories told by journalists in the newsroom.

One Canadian reporter said: "I find it weird Vegemite is actually a food."

Another said they knew someone years ago that ate banana skins, while a third said their parents liked to eat strawberry jam with cheese on bread.

On a Facebook post, readers comments ranged from eating broccoli to french fries and ice cream, eating raw onions like apples, buttered bread with heaps of hot sauce, peanut butter and vegemite sandwiches, peanut butter and jam sandwiches, vegemite/promite and banana sandwiches, and many more.

"We have a person in the family that when we have pizza, they separate all the topping in piles, then eats the base, then eats each pile on its own," Chris Kepple said.

Three other people said they, or someone they knew, pull meals apart and eat different foods separately.

"My husband eats barbecue shapes with tomato sauce on top," Amanda Metcalfe said.

"I can't stand it. I think it's gross. What's worse though is that while I was pregnant with our last child, I craved this weird eating habit. Thank God that craving didn't last long. LOL."

Tina Watson says her favourite eating habit is eating frozen veggies and she also likes peanut butter and banana sandwiches.

Max Maas says hot chilli sauce and vegemite.

Amanda Danda Wiliams says sour cream and corn-meat sandwiches.

Gayle Vea Vea says her granddaughter likes raw sliced potato soaked in malt vinegar.

"I know some people who eat broccoli. That has to be considered unusual," Roger Lambert-Barker said.
