East Shores opening date announced

THE Gladstone Auckland East Shores development will be open to the public on November 7.

The Gladstone Ports Corporation announced the date at the Gladstone Engineering Alliance conference on Thursday.

The much-awaited precinct will feature a state-of-the-art water park, new parklands, waterfront boardwalk and viewing platform.

There also will be historical artefacts such as anchors and bollards from the old Auckland Point Wharf, and the Sea Hill Lighthouse originally erected on Curtis Island.

Gladstone Ports Corporation chief executive Craig Doyle last month said the area would be a fantastic one for the community.

"It's going to be another great community asset for Gladstone, and I think it will be very popular," he said.
