Is it early signs of weakness by our council?

Re: 'Councillors not keen to sit on board' story (The Observer, Thursday, May 5, p9).

Is this performance snap shot a sign of things to come? Councillors new and old have passed the buck to neighbouring Councillors by opting out of sitting on The Fitzroy Basin Assoc Board.

Actively avoiding the opportunity to be a local voice in a forum of stakeholders dedicated to protecting and restoring our waterways and local beaches, is not paving the way to a brighter future. As a community facing an ever changing economic environment.

We need to be across as many regional planning programs as possible. Lets hope our Councillors love our rivers and beaches as much as we do.
