D’ya think I’m sexy? Well, it’s all in the name
WHAT'S in a name?
Apparently a lot more than Shakespeare may have ever realised when suggesting a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.
It turns out your name, if you are a man, might hold the key to your success with the ladies.
A new survey by dating site WhatsYourPrice.com claims to have discovered the name most likely to get a date.
The site collected data on which Australian male profiles acquired the most dates and ranked the most appealing men's names accordingly.
The name at the top of the list was not Romeo and definitely not Brad. It was Mark.
Sunshine Coast mayor Mark Jamieson thanked his mum and dad for his name, but as to whether it helped him score on the love charts?
"I'll leave it up to others to comment on the research," he said.
"All I can say is, I've been happily married for more than 30 years."
Interestingly, it wasn't only in Australia where Mark caused a spark. Canada and the US also had Mark as a very popular choice.
With other names such as David, Phillip, Andrew and William making the top 10, Australian women seem to have a preference for men with classic, almost regal sounding names.
"It is interesting that Mark is not only ranked as one of our sexiest names in the western hemisphere, but also in Australia," website CEO Brandon Wade said.
"Our data indicates that women may see certain names as an indicator of success, making those men who happen to be named Mark an attractive suitor."
