Duo deemed inspirations at first awards
IRENE Dudley says she is "much better" at giving back to the community than receiving.
She was in tears as she humbly accepted the inspirational woman award at Yaralla yesterday morning.
Now she's semi-retired, the single mum of two visits the elderly and sick at hospitals.
"You can forget what people said or how they acted but you never forget how somebody makes you feel," she said. More than 190 people congratulated Irene and two other women at the inaugural inspiring women's awards.
Ruby Ellen Lawler, 20, was named young inspiring woman of the year and the heroic woman of the year was 'Miss J', a sexual abuse survivor.
