Drunk damages bus after panic about where it was going

A BIG night out at the local left Vainetutai Boaza with more than a hangover.

At 11.15pm on November 3, he was being driven home in the courtesy bus after he had had some drinks schooners with his mates at the Diggers Arms Hotel in Calliope, when he started to panic.

In his intoxicated state, Boaza didn't know where the bus was taking him.

While the bus was in motion, he leapt from his seat and grabbed hold of the steering wheel, attempting to grab the keys out of the ignition.

He ended up breaking the windscreen wipers, landing himself in court this week.

Boaza appeared in Gladstone Magistrate's Court pleading guilty to one count of wilful damage.

He received a $500 fine on top of restitution for the damage he caused.
