Drop-top rear-wheel drive Lamborghini Huracán Spyder revealed

NO TIME to blow dry your hair? No worries.

The new Lamborghini Huracán rear-wheel drive Spyder can get the job done nicely. It's naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 can rip the supercar from standstill to 100kmh in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 319kmh.

Available from January, it completes the core Huracan model range and will be priced at $416,790 plus on-roads - which sits between the two ($378,900) and four-wheel drive ($428,000) coupe models. The soft-top four-wheel drive model starts from $470,800.

The electronically controlled roof can open and close in 17 seconds at speeds of up to 50kmh.

That V10 generates 426kW (that's 580hp in the old money) to the rear axle, with its dry weight of just 1509kg providing a weight-to-power ratio of 2.6kg/hp. Swapping cogs is done via a seven-speed dual clutch automatic with paddle shifts.

Weight distribution is biased 40% at the front, 60% at the rear, while engineers have used a specific steering set-up and recalibrated stability and traction controls especially for the rear-wheel drive configuration.

Lamborghini has redesigned the front and rear of the car, with massive front air intakes that direct cooling air and headwind to increase down pressure on the front axle.
