Drone owners can now fly for profit

ANYONE with a drone is now able to fly it for profit in Australia after changes were made to aviation rules that required commercial drone operators to hold a licence.

The laws will allow drone operators to fly drones weighing less than 2kg for profit after registering with the Civil Aviation and Safety Authority at least five business days before the first flight.

Operators will still have to abide by safety rules such as flying at least 30m away from people, steering clear of populated areas and flying during daylight hours.
