Drivers look forward to next khanacross event
MOTORSPORT: Drivers who competed in the weekend's round two of the Central Coast Car Club Khanacross series said they were already look-ing forward to round three in June.
Racing consisted of a sprint-based short course format at the Benaraby Stadium Short Course track while the second stage was at the purpose-built Benaraby Khanacross track.
Paul Murfet took outright honours on day one in his Subaru Liberty RS in "G" class where he pipped Mark Boyd in his Chrysler Lancer in the "Up to 2 Litre" class by less than a second.
"The weekend with racing across two tracks was a resounding success," CCCC treasurer Jamie Overend said.
"Fifteen competitors started on Saturday at the Stadium Short Course track with only one retirement due to mechanical failure."
Other class wins went to Sam McPherson in "Over 2 Litre" in his Toyota Corona, and Peter Bugeja won the "4wd Specials" in his Polaris RZR100 SxS. Kobi Martin in took out the "Junior" section in his Mitsubishi Mirage.
Peter Bugera won the "F" class on Sunday in his Polaris RZR100 SxS in "F" Class.
"The tighter track was more suited to his vehicle as he was eight-seconds clear of second-placed Murfet in the Subaru Liberty RS in 'G' Class'," Overend said.
Other class wins went to Brendan Lederhose in "Up to 2 Litre" and Tyler Martin in "Junior", just beating his younger brother Kobi by less than a second.
