Truck driver hits power pole

DALRYMPLE Drive was a scene of chaos yesterday morning when a truck rolled over an embankment.

Around 8.30am the truck rolled down the 6m embankment, hitting a power pole and a palm tree.

Ergon Energy had to be called to disconnect the power and Gladstone Regional Council had to remove the damaged palm tree.

The road was closed for a short period while Ergon checked the safety of the power pole.

A crane was also called to haul the truck back up the embankment.

The single-vehicle accident severely damaged the truck, which had to be towed away.

The driver was taken to Gladstone Hospital with minor injuries.
