Dramatic rescue to save surf lifesaver on the rocks

A SURF LIFESAVING jet ski was smashed onto the rocks at Point Danger during a dramatic rescue to save a surfer.

The surf lifesaver was responding to a man caught in the big surf before a large wave pushed their jet ski onto the rocks.

The men received minor injuries including cuts and bruises.

A Surf Lifesaving duty officer told the Gold Coast Bulletin the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue helicopter was called in to save the pair, but just as it got there the men managed to climb up the rocks.

A crane will likely be used to retrieve the damaged jet ski this afternoon.

The incident unfolded at 10.30am.
