Drivers to flex their muscle cars

EIGHTY-plus Nostalgia Drags are poised to burn up the quarter mile this Saturday when round six of the Nitro! Magazine Australia Drag Racing Series comes to Benaraby Raceway.

A variety of different vehicles will be on show including supercharged Nostalgia Outlaws, along with junior fuelers, Aussie and American muscle cars, hotrods, bikes and much more.

“We do have outstanding variety; a lot of interesting and powerful muscle cars come out of the woodwork that you don’t normally see,” Nostalgia Drag Racing Australia’s Chris Diggle said.

“The main attraction is our Nostalgia Outlaw cars featuring the Junkyard Dog Racing Cars from the Gold Coast; they’re quite fast seven-second cars and they’ll do battle with the local racers.”

A feature on the day will be the Nitro! Driver Subscriber, a 1968 Chev Impala that has been built for promotional purposes which subscribers of Nitro! magazine will have a chance to drive.

There are cash prizes up for grabs in every category, including the junior dragsters, and all racers will get up to three rounds under the Chicago Shootout system.

The action kicks off at high noon and will go well into the evening.
