Double joy for Eva for her first Mother's Day in new country

FOR some mums, this Mother's Day may be their 20th or their sixth, but for Spanish mum Eva De La Iglesia, it's her first one.

Mrs De La Iglesia's twin sons Oliver and Alexander are nine-months-old and were born in Spain.

Mrs De La Iglesia and her husband, who is originally from Victoria, moved to Gladstone four weeks ago after he got a job on Curtis Island.

The pair left their home in Germany, stayed in Italy for 10 days to pack, and then flew from Milan, to Dubai and then finally onto Gladstone.

Mrs De La Iglesia said the twins were fine on the long journey and the family was loving their new home.

"I like it. I live around the corner so I walk everywhere with my pram," she said.

"But there's not much shopping."

The happy family are celebrating Mother's Day in Brisbane on Sunday, but haven't made any particular plans yet.

However, Mrs De La Iglesia is secretly hoping she gets a surprise.

"I hope I get a present!" she laughed.

"I haven't been to Brisbane before, it's very exciting."
