Census: Your time is running out, so act fast

THERE'S still time to complete the census ahead of the deadline later this month to avoid being fined.

About 80% of Australian households have now completed their census forms.

Australians have until September 23 to file their census forms online.

Participation in the census is compulsory.

The information is collected and published against geographic areas.

The count is taken every five years and is managed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The cost of the census in 2001 was $440 million.
